Peter Lance, the author of 1000 Years of Revenge, one of the sources used for ABC’s Emmy nominated miniseries Path to 9/11, starring Harvey Keitel and Michael Benyaer, has decided to speak up about the television network’s spin on the facts presented in his book. You can read the full article here.

The article comes in response to last week’s headlines and allegations made by the miniseries writer Cyrus Nowrasteh, who claims that the series’ DVD release is being blocked by Hillary Clinton’s election camp because it places the blame for the terrorist attacks on her husband’s failure to catch Osama bin Laden. Protesting the series getting shelved by ABC, Nowrasteh, whose take on the events leading up to 9/11 heavily defends the mistakes made by the Bush Sr. and Jr. administration, is now appealing to people to stand up and defend the first amendment, saying that he even received death threats before the series was broadcast last fall.

Lance has now fired back with the full account of Nowrasteh selectively lifting portions of his book only to spin them and beat them into a right wing defense of the FBI. In 2005, Lance even went so far as to start a lawsuit against ABC for book theft, which eventually resulted in a settlement deal, with ABC being forced to buy the rights to 1000 Years for Revenge, an investigative work highly critical of the FBI. The author suspects that the reason why the series is still unavailable on DVD may have something to do with ABC execs finally coming to their senses and deciding not to give all the inaccuracies and distortions a DVD release.

Lance also authored Cover Up and Triple Cross, both works dealing with the 9/11 investigation. His screenwriting credits include Crime Story and Michael Mann’s cult series Miami Vice.
