Terminator seems to be the franchise of the season. Not only will we see another movie in the series, with Christian Bale starring as John Connor, but there is a really good television series out there to discover. Last call to anyone who hasn’t tuned in yet - the two-part season finale of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Vick’s Chip/What He Beheld, airs this evening at 8 on Fox.
Even though the show wasn’t welcomed by all Terminator fans, it has garnered a lot of respect among the viewers and, in spite of the first season being cut short because of the strike, it has a good chance of getting renewed. At this point, it is pretty much up to Fox and the pitch that the show’s head writer and producer Josh Friedman delivers. Fingers crossed for season two.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles has had an excellent run so far, with enough intriguing storylines, well written drama, suspense and compelling characters to build a solid fanbase pretty early on. Starring Lena Headey (Sarah Connor), Thomas Dekker (John Connor) and Summer Glau (Cameron, the terminator, named after James Cameron, the director), the series deals with a mother who must protect her son (or else the universe falls apart and machines take over), a son growing into a hero, and one very scary robot on a mission that has yet to be unveiled.
Since the people running the show are pretty secretive about the way the story unfolds in the finale, these are basically all the spoilers we get before the final two episodes:
“John defends Cameron against a damning accusation by Derek and Sarah gets too close to a Terminator. Meanwhile, Cromartie closes in on John. Sarah and Derek attempt a business transaction with a questionable man, while John and Cameron find themselves in a precarious situation during a school trip. Meanwhile, Agent Ellison discovers a nemesis at the agency.”
Fox at 8.
