Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will have two new regular characters when it returns for a second season in September. One has already been cast: Catherine Weaver, the “unusually earthy” CEO of a major high-tech company will be played by none other than Shirley Manson, lead singer of Garbage.
The Scottish singer has a movie called ItW listed as “in production” on the IMDb, but no other film or television acting credits to date, except for several musical guest appearances on Saturday Night Live. If, however, her presence on the stage translates with as much intensity on the television screen, it will be interesting, to say the least, to see where she takes the corporate new regular.
There has been no news on the casting of the other new character, a “hot teenage hipster” named Becky, who will probably play a new love interest for John.
To recap, The Sarah Connor Chronicles is the highest rated new scripted series for the 2007/08 season. It stars Lena Headey as Sarah Connor, Thomas Dekker as John Connor and Summer Glau as Cameron Phillips, the terminator sent back to protect John.
Brian Austin Green, who came on board in mid-season 1 to play Derek Reese, will be back as a series regular in season two.
Also returning are Dean Winters (Charley Dixon) and Richard T. Jones (agent James Ellison). No word on Garret Dillahunt (Cromartie, the evil terminator) yet.
Season two premieres on Fox on Monday, September 1, at 8 PM.
The complete first season will be available on DVD and BluRay on August 19.
