Imagen Foundation to present top honours to Tony Plana, Rodrigo Garcia and Ligiah Villalobos

The Imagen Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging positive and accurate portrayal of Latino characters and production storylines in film and television, will present special awards to three prominent industry insiders this year.

Actor Tony Plana will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, director/producer Rodrigo Garcia (HBO’s In Treatment) will be given the Creative Achievement Award and executive producer and writer of the feature film La Misma Luna, Ligiah Villalobos, will be presented with the Norman Lear Writer’s Award.

Helen Hernandez, founder of the Imagen Foundation and creator of the Imagen Awards, said: “I am consistently amazed with the exponential growth in both the quantity and quality of the entries we receive each year. The increase of Latino representation across entertainment disciplines is truly indicative of the prevalent role we play in Hollywood, mainstream America, and throughout the world.”
