Doctor Who, Stardust win at the 2008 Hugo Awards

Doctor Who episode Blink beat out Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood and Star Trek New Voyages to win a Hugo Award for “Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form,” while Stardust won in the “Long Form” category, where it was nominated alongside Enchanted, The Golden Compass, Heroes Season One, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The Hugo Awards, introduced in 1953, are given for excellence in science fiction at the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) every year. Most categories are related to published works in the science fiction, fantasy or horror genre, but film and television productions are also included in the two aforementioned categories, along with dramatized productions in other media (radio, music, live theatre, computer games).

The 66th Annual World Science Fiction Convention took place on August 9 in Denver, Colorado. The full list of this year’s winners and nominees can be found on the official Hugo Awards website.
