Oscar nominees 2015

The nominations for the 2015 Academy Awards were announced earlier today. Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel lead the pack among this year’s picks with nine nominations each, including Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay and Cinematography.

The Imitation Game follows closely behind with eight nominations, including Best Picture, Director and Actor. Boyhood and American Sniper got six nods each, among them Best Picture and Film Editing.

The films competing for Best Picture are Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Birdman, Richard Linklater’s Boyhood, Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, Morten Tyldum’s The Imitation Game, Ava DuVernay’s Selma, James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything, and Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash.

The Oscars will be broadcast live on February 22 on ABC.
