Captain Abu Raed wins two top honors at the Traverse City Film Festival

Award winning Jordanian feature film CAPTAIN ABU RAED was awarded two top honors yesterday at the 4th Traverse City Film Festival, garnering the Audience Award - Best Fiction Film and Best of Fest - Fiction Film. The nominees for the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced earlier today. Notably absent on the list of best dramas is Battlestar Galactica. This, along with the failure to include Mary McDonnell on the list of best actresses, is probably the single most unforgivable omission this year. (And seriously, Lost? Danish crime drama wins Karlovy Vary top prize

Danish crime drama Terribly Happy won the main prize at the 43rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which closed over the weekend. The film is based on a novel by Erling Jepsen. The festival jury gave the special prize and $20,000 to Nan T. Achnas for The Photograph, while Alexey Uchitel was honored as best director for The Captive. Edinburgh Film Festival 2008 closes
