This year's Foreign Language Film Oscar entries have been unveiled. A record 67 countries have submitted their best films for consideration. The Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22 and the winners will be known at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony on February 22. Slumdog Millionaire audience’s favourite at Toronto Film Festival

The 33rd Toronto International Film Festival closed over the weekend. Spike TV has announced the Advisory Board and nominees for Scream 2008. The Scream awards honour the best works in the comic book, science fiction and fantasy genre. Venice Film Festival 2008 awards

The 65th annual Venice Film Festival wrapped over the weekend. The Golden Lion for best film went to Darren Aronofsky for his drama The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke as a retired professional wrestler trying to make a comeback. Rourke is one of the early contenders for an Oscar for his performance in the film, even if he missed out on the best actor prize in Venice.
