Tony Manero, the drama about a serial killer obsessed with John Travolta's character from Saturday Night Fever, has won the top prize at the 26th annual Turin Film Festival, which closed on Saturday. Chilean director Pablo Larrain also took the FIPRESCI prize for best film, while Alfredo Castro won best actor honours. Durham County, The Englishman’s Boy sweep Gemini Awards

Canadian crime drama Durham County, which follows a homicide cop who lives next door to a serial killer, won three trophies at the 23rd Gemini Awards this Friday. The Englishman's Boy, a miniseries set in 1870s Saskatchewan and 1920s Los Angeles, was the other big winner at this year's Canada's television awards. Abdel Kechiche wins European Film Academy Critics’ Award 2008

The European Film Academy (EFA), the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) and EFA Productions have announced that this year's FIPRESCI prize has been awarded to French filmmaker Abdellatif Kechiche for his film La Graine et la mulet (The Secret of the Grain). The nominations for THE 35TH ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS were announced this morning by Joshua Jackson ("Fringe"), Carrie Ann Inaba ("Dancing with the Stars"), Paula Marshall ("Gary Unmarried") and Jay Mohr ("Gary Unmarried"). European Film Awards nominations announced

The nominations for the 21st European Film Awards were announced at the Seville European Film Festival. With five nominations each, Paolo Sorrentino's Il Divo and Matteo Garrone's Gomorrah are leading the pack this year. The 1,800 European Film Academy (EFA) members will now cast their votes and the winners of the 2008 EFA Awards will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Copenhagen on December 6.
