London Film Critics name The Wrestler, Slumdog films of the year

The London Film Critics' Circle presented the awards for the best achievements in film in 2008 on Wednesday. Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei, was named the best film of the year, while Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire took home the award for Best British Film. Gomorrah wins top five prizes at European Film Awards

Italian director Matteo Garrone’s Gomorrah, a tale of the Naples underworld based on the book by Roberto Saviano, won five of the 15 top awards, including Best Film, at the 21st European Film Awards. The awards ceremony was held in Copenhagen, Denmark on Saturday, December 6.
